Why we do what we do at Church

Our Sunday meetings are the major gathering place for our church family and we encourage everyone to make Sundays at CityChurch a regular part of their spiritual life.

Fun & Life Giving We want church to be a very positive experience in people's lives. We encourage people to come with faith and expectation and reach out to the Lord, who will touch their life. Sunday church is to be a safe environment for every person. We will ensure that God's Word is preached in a positive and life-giving way. We embrace grace and not legalism and seek to empower people to live as disciples of Jesus passionately, rather than out of a sense of fear, duty or obligation.
Praise & Worship It's when we have the opportunity to gather to lift our corporate praise and worship to God. The vision of our Worship Team is that they would passionately pursue the presence of God, and lead the church in this; exhibiting an attitude of excellence. We want people to worship God freely and passionately.
The Word of God Sundays are important because it gives us opportunity to hear the preaching of God's Word from gifted teachers and preachers. We will ensure that the preaching is balanced and unbiased and ‘your life' focused rather than ‘church systems' focused. We encourage people to bring their Bibles, take notes and be serious students of the Word.
Life Changing Encounters with God We believe God wants to dwell richly in our lives, and fill us with His Holy Spirit-evidenced by fruit and gifts flowing. Our celebration, worship, preaching and altar ministry times will be Holy Spirit led and empowered-so that people can have life-changing encounters with God.
Prophetic Ministry There is a prophetic forum that meets monthly for ongoing training. We value the prophetic voice in our midst, and want to see that released. In order for that to happen appropriately, people who function in the prophetic are asked to be part of the prophetic forum where training can happen so public ministry operates in a relational way with the pastoral oversight.
Praying for People We often give time for people to respond to what God is saying to them and invite people who would like to be prayed for. We often have people pray for others in our services, but limit this to leaders and other trained people from the church in order to safeguard everyone.
